If there is one name in Bollywood which always stays in news for the right reasons it has to be Katrina Kaif. And she has done it yet again, bagging the title of the World’s Sexiest Woman for the 4th year in a row.

In a recently conducted magazine poll Bollywood’s uncrowned Queen Katrina Kaif was declared the clear winner. Katrina beat Hollywood beauties like Blake Lively, Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox to bag this title. Not to mention the Bollywood hotbods she beat on the way to this title.

“I am really excited with the news since it means people are not voting for me only based on my physical looks. They are looking at me in entirety,” Katrina said.

When asked what sexy means to her, she said, “Being sexy is not about the clothes. The sexiest thing is not trying. For me to wear a cotton sari, be without makeup and to still be desirable is sexy.”

Will ‘Dhoom 3′ lead to Katrina-Jackie fireworks?

‘Dhoom 3 ‘ is becoming interesting with every passing week. While it seemed that coming together of Aamir Khan and Jackie Shroff years after ‘Rangeela‘ would be something to rejoice for the audience, there was one important aspect that was probably ignored. The film features Katrina Kaif as the leading lady and if reports are to be believed, there is no love lost between her and Ayesha Shroff, Jackie’s wife.

“Ayesha had given a break to Katrina with ‘Boom‘. However in the decade gone by, they never worked with each other again. Things turned so much sour between the duo that Aeysha confessed in her close circles that she was terribly disappointed with Katrina for having forgotten her contribution. On her part, even though Katrina maintained a silence, it was clear that reconcilation between the two was very unlikely”, says a source.

However those close to Jackie insist that all so-called controversies are plain hearsay and there is nothing wrong between his family and Katrina.

“Shroffs had given a break to Katrina and she is forever grateful to them for that since before ‘Boom‘ no one knew who she was. She has always been very polite and courteous towards them. There have never been any bad vibes and all such talks of them being upset with each other are just loose talks”, the source adds.

Salman-Katrina rejoice as ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ hits the bull’s eye.

If response to the latest theatrical promo of ‘Ek Tha Tiger‘ is any indication, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaifhave a huge winner up their sleeves. Other than the fact that the film promises to be a huge commercial winner, even from the content perspective one can sense that director Kabir Khan has brought in his sensibilities in place while ensuring that mass appeal of his two leads is well utilised.

“The moment newest theatrical promo of ‘Ek Tha Tiger‘ hit internet on Wednesday, one thing was quite clear that no one can stop this film from scoring well at the box office. The promo is the ‘baap’ of them all and even leaves behind the mighty successful teaser that was launched a few weeks back. While that one relied more on action, the new promo amalgamates every ‘masala’, be it romance, light hearted moments, intrigue, action and of course some stunning action”, comments an observer.

“Also, those who doubted Katrina’s chemistry with Salman post their break up would have to go quite now as they seem like an ideal couple on screen. How one wishes that this happens in real life as well”, quips a source attached to the film.

However those close to Kabir Khan confirm that his idea was to showcase the right essence of the film instead of focusing only on the Salman-Katrina angle. Since the film has an international conspiracy in the middle of this all, Kabir was sure that he wanted to plug in elements of intrigue as well (by bringing on unlikely candidates like Girish Karnad and Ranvir Shorey as well), hence ensuring that audience were not surprised with the final product on screen.

“The film isn’t ‘Dabangg‘ or ‘Bodyguard‘ which relied only on Salman power. There is a definite story to be told as well in ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ and this is what you would see on screen”, the source confirms.

Katrina Kaif: The Rs. 100 Crore Item Girl!

Katrina Kaif always had the looks going for her, but when it came to dancing, we were not so sure. So when she was supposed to an item number in Salman Khan’s Bodyguard, we had our doubts.

But Kat sizzled in her sexy black outfit as she took the stage with Salman Khan in the song. While the dance may not have done justice to the moves this foreign import is capable of, the movie did go on to make Rs. 100 crore at the box office!

Almost a year later, Kat donned the skimpy dress of an item once again. Only this time it was for the Hrithik Roshan starrer Agneepath. While Kat went for belly dancing for Sheila Ki Jawaani, Chikni Chameli was completely grounded and desi when it came to the dance. And with the vigour and sheer sexiness of her dance, Katrina Kaif had cemented herself as the sexiest item in Bollywood (Malaika Arora Khan is very close). No surprises that the film soon made its way to the Rs. 100 crore club as well.

The math comes to this: Katrina Kaif has done two item numbers so far – the title song of Bodyguard and Chikni Chameli in Agneepath. Both films have gone on to make more than Rs. 100 crore at the box office! Is Kat a lucky item-charm or what!

Shah Rukh Khan-Katrina Kaif Starrer Not Titled Yeh Kahaan Aa Gaye Hum

Its seems that Shah Rukh Khan’s latest film with Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma will continue with its long wait for a suitable title. While rumours of the film being titled Yeh Kahaan Aa Gaye Hummade rounds, the production house issued a disclaimer that it wasn’t so.

“This is completely baseless and the movie still remains untitled,” stated a report sent out by Yash Raj Films. Will this Yash Chopra film go down the same road as Veer-Zaara and wait for a title till the last moment

The film, which stars SRK, Katrina and Anushka, has A. R. Rahman giving the music and Gulzar writing the lyrics. The film is scheduled for a Diwali 2012 release.

If early reports are any indication, Deepika Padukone has stolen the march over her closest competitor Kareena Kapoor and is now all set to step into Rohit Shetty’s Chennai Express. This also means that it would be half a decade after Om Shanti Om that the couple would be seen together as a lead pair. Though they have done an item number for Billu a few years back, a conventional hero-heroine pairing was being missed for long.

“More than anyone else, it is great news indeed for Deepika because now she will be challenging girls at the top all over again,” says a filmmaker, “Starting with Cocktail (Saif Ali Khan), she has men like Rajinikanth (Kochadaiyaan) and then Saif again (Race 2) for company. With Shah Rukh Khan along and a director like Rohit Shetty who definitely knows the hit formula, Deepika has a huge film up her name. She can definitely expect an interesting year ahead for her now,” informs our well placed source on the condition of anonymity.

There were other top names in consideration as well. However given the current scenario with Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra was anyways out of equation. Katrina Kaif is already doing the Yash Chopra film with him and roping her in would have meant two consecutive films. It all boiled down to Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone and now it has emerged that it’s the latter who will be joining Shah Rukh in this ‘express’.”

For Rohit too it would be an entirely different set up since in the past he has cast Ajay Devgan and Kareena Kapoor most number of times. Meanwhile indications are that Deepika’s name as a leading lady would be formally announced around the release of Bol Bachchan.

Releasing big banner movies simultaneously at the box-office hasn’t done much good. In 2009, the Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan starrer All The Best clashed with Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt’s Blue at the windows. No marks for guessing which of them sunk without a trace.

Similarly, two bigwigs clashed at the windows when Sanjay Leela Bhansali released his Saawariya alongside Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om in September 2007. While the newcomers Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor were left to fend for themselves in the blue background, it was the Deepika Padukone and Shah RukhKhan starrer which laughed all the way to the bank.
But it looks like production houses have learnt a lesson after sparks flying at the windows, and most films now categorically look for safe dates to release their films rather than eat into each others’ profits. It is almost an unsaid rule that big banner films will not release together with so much competition and the problem of accommodating them in screens.
Of the films set to fight it out at the box-office this Diwali – Yash Chopra’s untitled film, Son Of Sardar and Khiladi 786 – at least one of these films will have to shift to an earlier or later date.
The important question is: Who will blink first?

Shooting for the film, which is yet to be tilted, has already started with SRK and Kat in London. The film, which is directed by Yash Chopra, also stars Anushka Sharma. The multi-starrer has music by A. R. Rahman and lyrics by Gulzar. It is scheduled for a Diwali 2012 release

Should Chikni Chameli Have Been A Surprise?

It has often been debated whether the trend of showing either the entire song of a film or large chunks of it on television channels and on websites like YouTube before the release of that film is sensible marketing or not. If a song is a chartbuster, its popularity, more often than not, ensures that the public would make a beeline to the cinemas for the film when it hits the screens to watch, among other things, that hit song. But if the public has already seen the song, that too day in and day out, before the film actually releases, the question is: wouldn’t they feel less inclined to go to the cinema hall to see the same song over again? In a way, the repeated hammering of the song may have spoilt the charm for the audience because an overkill, after all, is an overkill.
Conversely, those who profess that it is wise to show the song in toto before release, believe that the tempo of the promotion of the film needs to be maintained till the day of release, and a sure way of doing that is to repeat a hit song on television channels. Obviously, their further argument is that there are other highlights in the film, besides the song, which are kept under wraps and which, therefore, would give the audience value for their money when they visit a cinema to watch the film. They also feel, the pleasure of watching a song on the big screen is far greater than of watching it on the TV or computer screen – and this joy can be multiplied if the song has become a rage due to its constant promotion on the audiovisual medium as against on the audio medium only.
But it wouldn’t be wrong to say that there are films nowadays in which the only highlight/s is/are so completely shown on TV and the Internet platforms – and so many times – that there is nothing that remains for the public to enjoy in the cinema hall as they’ve already seen whatever there was to see in the film – and repeatedly! This problem never arose before television became such a popular medium for film promotion. In the good old days, the medium of radio was used to promote films and since that medium did not have the ability to show the song being promoted on it, there was no fear about the public not going to watch the film, because the visual appeal of the hit song could only be enjoyed in the dark of the cinema hall.
In recent times, the Chikni Chameli song from Agneepath has become a chartbuster and it is available for free viewing on almost every platform. Of course, one can very safely assume that Karan Johar’s Agneepath would be watchworthy for more reasons than just Chikni Chameli but still, the question that begs an answer is: should Karan have opened his Chameli card or given only a hint to the audience that its picturisation on Katrina Kaif was another ace up his sleeve just like the music?

While fans have a lot of expectations from the Katrina Kaif and Imran Khan starrer, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, the film seems to have got into a controversy of sorts. The film’s unit, which was shooting a marriage sequence near the Taj Mahal in Agra, has run into trouble with the local authorities over the use of diesel vehicles and security guards near the Taj.
The Taj Mahal, which is maintained and protected by the Archaeological Survey of India, is a World Heritage Site. Reports suggest that the film’s unit violated rules while shooting and the a complaint has been filed with the ASI with regards to the same.
